Doula Services

What is a doula?

A doula is a trained childbirth professional that provides informational, physical, and emotional support to mothers and their families during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period.

I work closely with mothers to get to know their individual needs during pregnancy and help them prepare for labor and birth. Think of me as your “personal pregnancy assistant”. I’m available by phone anytime to chat or answer questions. Then, I remain on-call to come to you during labor to support and coach you through each stage. I help you remain calm and focused, know when it’s time to go to the hospital, stay by your side until baby arrives, help you establish breastfeeding, and offer postpartum support once you’ve gone home.

For a free phone or in-person consultation, contact me, Meredith Carpenter, at (361) 877-7677.

I’d be happy to answer any questions you have and honored to take this journey with you and your family!

*Doulas are not medical professionals, but are well respected in the hospital and work as an integral part of your hospital birthing team! Even during Covid19, we are allowed to support you in the hospital and are not counted as a visitor at Peterson Regional Medical Center.
